Though there's still certainly more snow in my future, I'm sure, I think we're finally out of the woods in terms of super bitter cold (watch me be proven wrong just for having said that). It was in the 60s today and sorely needed. Though, the grass is already starting to turn green which is... insanely early for Colorado. A bit concerning for sure, how mild it's been this winter, but supposedly the mountains are getting enough snow that it's not actually at dangerous drought levels. I imagine we may see a lot of heavy/wet spring snow. Pray for the trees in my neighborhood lmao. I'm already dreading the potential power outages; these ancient cottonwoods love to drop branches on the power lines.
I'm happy to say that I have been drawing more consistently lately than I have in years. I got disheartened for a while because my lack of... staying committed to art means that I slid backwards a lot in skill. Couple that with switching to drawing more anime style characters and trying to translate them into my own style - yeesh. I have been feeling pretty consistently down about my art for years at this point. But! I am seeing improvement over the months now that I am doing something, on average, once a month. It does make it so looking at things I did even 6 months ago makes me go >:( but hey! at least it's progress.
Speaking of which, I have a lot of ideas and things I want to draw but I haven't really gotten around to it. But that's because I have been working on zine/project pieces that I can't share just yet. I am so crazy happy about how progress with the shuake horror zine is going. Everyone's pieces are looking so amazing and I cannot wait to see this project complete and be shared with the world. It's going to be truly awesome. That, and I already have another project in the future I'll help with after this one. I used to be involved in zines on a near constant basis - burnout and a shit, demanding job took that from me too. I'm realizing now that I am back in it, how much I missed it! I want to be involved in fandom/community projects on a pretty regular basis from here on out.
Though I'm happy with the project/zine work I'm doing I do want to get going on some stuff that I can share, soon. And tackle my commissions! Thankful that I'm finally feeling more stable/steady and I'm slowly overcoming my agoraphobia. Woo
Happy last day of Feb everyone! Hope it's been good.
I finally committed to changing over my website like I have been saying I wanted to for like... the better part of a year, now?
I wanted to go for a simpler approach than my prior layout. Truthfully, it'd been so long since I did any meaningful web dev (or something similar to it). So I had used a template and iterated on it previously. This time around, I wanted to start from scratch.
There's a lot of cleanup and polish I want to do later, but I thought it was done enough to pull it over! Really thankful for having subscriped to neocities so I can have multiple sites and used another as my sandbox for this. The only problem with the current state of the site is that it's not even slightly mobile friendly. The previous version was ugly on mobile, but useable. I don't think this one is at all LMAO.
I will be eventually moving forward with making this site responsive to different screen sizes, including mobile. But that's something to do another day! I'll also be uploading the backlog from the blog I had before. Even though using the iframe to just pull it in was convenient, I prefer just setting up posts in divs and going from there. It's more my style. Anyway! That's all for now. :)
